Alan's birthday gift to child healthcare

Nearly £21,000 was raised for charity at a celebration lunch for one of the Institute’s longest-serving members

Each year, to mark his birthday, Dr Alan Diamond OBE MCSI, a retired stockbroker, invites friends to lunch at a notable venue with a top speaker, encouraging donations to a worthy cause.

This year, the event was staged by the British School of Osteopathy (BSO) at its clinical centre in Southwark, London and the proceeds went to support its specialist clinics for children.

Alan founded a charitable trust in 1976 with his wife and from a modest initial investment the fund has grown substantially, enabling it to support a variety of charities. The BSO has been a major beneficiary

BSO Principal Charles Hunt said “I would like to formally thank Dr Alan Diamond for choosing the BSO’s Children’s Clinics as his nominated cause this year. His support for the BSO over the years has been unparalleled, and we are incredibly grateful for his continued generosity.”

Next year’s event will be held in aid of Norwood, a charity which helps children with learning difficulties and whose patron is The Queen.
