Celebrities add spice to CISI branch dinners

Former England football player and manager Kevin Keegan and comic writer Barry Cryer starred as guest speakers at CISI branch annual dinners.

Kevin Keegan OBE addressed 180 guests at the Liverpool & North Wales branch dinner.  He is pictured above with Jon Walker, Chartered FCSI, President, CISI Liverpool & North Wales branch .

Around £2,400, including Gift Aid, was raised at the event for Wirral-based Claire House Children’s Hospice.

Those attending included members of the CISI Board of Directors, which earlier in the day had met in Liverpool, and a number of apprentices who are undertaking an innovative training programme at the local office of investment manager Rathbones.

At the dinner, an update was given about the CISI Educational Trust’s sponsorship of a teaching post at Archbishop Beck Catholic College in Liverpool to enable local students to study for the CISI Diploma in Finance, Risk & Investment (equivalent to a full A-level).

Barry Cryer OBE entertained 105 guests at the annual dinner of the Bristol & Bath branch. He is pictured above with Ella Clark ACSI, President, CISI Bristol & Bath branch and Edward Brunel-Cohen MCSI, the Institute’s Global  Head of Finance & IT.

Additionally attendees were told about the expansion of activities in the region and the forging of closer links with the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol, recognised by the CISI as a Centre of Excellence in offering academic education on financial markets.

The event was held at Bristol Zoo and £1,000, including Gift Aid, was raised for Talking Money (formerly Bristol Debt Advice Centre).

Osman Yukselturk, Director of the MSc Finance Programme at UWE, and Helena Thompson, Chief Executive of Talking Money, were among guests.
