Change is an accessible way of finding out what the recent, imminent and future changes are. It has many sources. In the past, it was enough to read the regulator’s website periodically: now you need to know what laws and guidance are coming from the EU, which makes most of the new rules, such as MiFID II, and indeed from the G20 with its focus on shadow banking and firms’ Recovery and Resolution Plans (‘living wills’). Within the UK, the Commons Treasury Committee continues to drive its own strong agenda, often holding the regulators to account – for example in Skilled Persons’ reports. The EU agenda comes from many varied sources including the Commission, the Parliament, ESMA, EBA and EIOPA.
"knowing what they (regulators) expect of you is important for your career"
Christopher Bond, Chartered MCSI, Editor of Change, said: “As ever, more individuals and firms have to face up to more and tougher supervision by the UK regulators - knowing what they expect of you is important for your career.
“The October edition covers the big changes for all firms, including Prudential Regulation Authority policies and Financial Conduct Authority supervision, and those which apply to seven specific sectors such as asset management, investment banking and private wealth management. Read and enjoy.”
