To be considered for the 2015-16 scholarship, candidates must submit a 1,500 word essay by Monday 6 April 2015 on the following topic:
‘What is the difference, if it exists, between investing and gambling? Which category does derivative trading and spread betting fall into?’
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview with the CISI Educational Trust at the CISI offices in London at the beginning of April 2015.
The winner will receive a £2,500 contribution towards the costs of tuition and examination entry fees for the three-unit CISI Masters in Wealth Management.
The scholarship was awarded for the first time in 2014. The recipient was Philip Firmin, Chartered MCSI, who is shown being presented with the bursary by CISI Chief Executive Simon Culhane, Chartered FCSI.
The CISI Masters in Wealth Management offers wealth managers (including discretionary portfolio managers, private bankers, IFAs and others dealing with high net worth clients) a postgraduate level specialist qualification encompassing the breadth of knowledge needed to provide a high quality service to clients. It is in line with the new Retail Distribution Review exam standards and compliant with Financial Conduct Authority standards for the following six regulated activities: advising on and dealing in securities and derivatives, and advising on packaged products and managing investments.
It comprises three, three-hour narrative exams on the subjects of Financial Markets, Portfolio Construction Theory and Applied Wealth Management, and is taken over an 18-month period. Candidates must hold an appropriate benchmark qualification in order to enrol for the programme; a full list of accepted qualifications can be found at cisi.org/mwm
