CISI appoints first ever Latin American representative

Oct2015WaldoMaticorenaLatinAmrepThe Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) has announced the appointment of its first ever Latin American representative, Waldo Maticorena.

Amidst an unprecedented growth in interest in the Institute’s qualifications programme and professional development offering in the region, Mr Maticorena will be based in Bogota, Colombia.

Mr Maticorena is a public accountant certified in Peru and Colombia. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Universidad Ricardo Palma (Lima, Peru) and an MBA from Universidad ESAN (Lima, Peru) in exchange with UCLA (Los Angeles, California).

Currently CEO of MASTERS Latam a training company that operates in South America, Mr Maticorena has worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Peru, Canada and Colombia. 

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Maticorena said: “The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment is a respected, global professional body and I am excited to be joining this dynamic team as we further develop the Institute’s business in Latin America. It is great to bring to my region the benefits of the most recognised certifications in finance to enhance the knowledge required in the global arena.”

In Mexico CISI qualifications are now offered by the Asociación Mexicana de Intermediarios Bursátiles (AMIB), the Mexican Brokers Association. The AMIB have included in their programme the Spanish versions of CISI’s Fundamentals of Financial Services, Risk in Financial Services and International Certificate in Wealth & Investment Management (ICWIM) qualifications.

The CISI also has relationships in place in Colombia with the Bolsa de Valores de Colombia (BVC), the Colombian Stock Exchange, PWC Knowledge Solution and Invest Masters in Bogota and the Universidad del Norte (Uninorte) in Barranquilla, Colombia.
