As the Cypriot financial services sector continues to grow, a recent presentation held at the European University Cyprus in association with the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) confirmed the importance of maintaining integrity in business.
Petros Florides Chartered FCSI, President of the CISI in Cyprus presented the Integrity At Work session to over 30 students at the University in Nicosia.
“The CISI Integrity At Work workshop is a lively, interactive session using real life dilemmas set in a financial services business environment. With real time voting devices we involve participants in decision making options while at the same time learning the importance of the core values of honesty, openness, transparency and fairness in an effort to address the loss of trust in the present global financial market,” said Mr Florides.
The Integrity At Work presentation included examples of where integrity has gone wrong in the worlds of sport, politics and financial services as well as real-life case study scenarios on topics ranging from corporate hospitality to lying on your CV.
Kevin Moore Chartered MCSI, CISI Director of Global Business Development said “Our partnership with EUC is imperative as it allows Cypriots the opportunity to pursue a career in the securities and investment industry. By obtaining our globally recognised qualifications students can become members of CISI, which allows them to demonstrate their professionalism and update their skills through an ongoing programme of continuing professional development (CPD).”
Simona Mihai-Yiannaki, Associate Professor, Faculty of Finance and Investment of European University Cyprus said: “We are delighted to partner with the CISI for this event which I believe has given our students much food for thought regarding the essential symbiosis of financial services and trust.”
The CISI Cyprus Committee has a number of continuing professional development and social events planned over the next few months, including a wine tasting and an annual dinner. Further information can be obtained from constantinos.markou@totalserve.eu
