IAPM and CISI new partnership positions Nigerian portfolio managers for global capital market competitiveness

The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) and the Nigerian Association of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers (IAPM) have signed an MoU with the aim of advancing professional standards in the Nigerian capital market.

The collaboration will ensure that the following CISI qualifications will be offered to IAPM students and members:

  • International Certificate in Wealth & Investment Management
  • International Certificate in Advanced Wealth Management
  • Chartered Wealth Manager qualification

In addition, candidates will also receive 12 months Student CISI membership which includes access to the full range of CISI member benefits. These include over 500 videos on the CISI TV channel, over 180 Professional Refresher modules to update sector knowledge and the opportunity to attend CPD events.

All exams will be undertaken by computer based testing, except for the narrative Chartered Wealth Manager qualification, at the CISI global testing partner Prometric facilities in Lagos.

The CISI and IAPM will also discuss the opportunity to recognise IAPM members for CISI membership and vice versa.

The IAPM was formed in 1981 and has been at the forefront of efforts to instil discipline and professionalism in Nigerian investment management and financial advice.

Prince Abimbola Olashore, President/Chairman of IAPM Council said: “It is a perfect partnership of two institutions from different geographical locations and market experiences, with similar missions and focus to promote common interest in providing quality professional knowledge/qualifications of international standard to Nigeria financial market operators.

“With this partnership IAPM will be able to serve as an Accredited Training Partner (ATP) for all stages of the CISI project in addition to having exclusive ATP status for the CISI’s Chartered Wealth Management qualification, the pinnacle wealth management qualification offered by CISI. The CISI will also be able to deliver its wide range of financial training products to the Nigeria market through IAPM training platform.
