Membership Benefits

Membership of the CISI tells clients, colleagues and the wider public that you are a professional committed to professionalism, integrity and excellence.

To support members in achieving these standards, the CISI provides an unparalleled selection of networking, development and progression opportunities.

Networking

CISI members have extensive opportunities to make connections and share knowledge. Through membership of the CISI professionals can access an international network of 50,000 financial practitioners. A combination of events, forums and social media, enables CISI members to initiate and develop an array of connections with professionals from across the sector.

CPD Networking Events and Conferences

CISI members can keep themselves informed of the latest key issues affecting the financial markets and meet high-level delegates from around the world at any of our half, one or two-day events, available for all those working in today’s ever-changing financial services professions.

Members can attend free and exclusive social events as well as conferences.

Professional Forums

Members share their ideas and listen to presentations by other practitioners in any of the nine free Professional Forums run by the Institute, available to all members. These highly regarded forums enable you to meet with other professionals and engage in open discussions in a confidential setting, as forums are conducted under Chatham House Rule.

Professional Forums include: Bond and Fixed Interest | Compliance | Corporate Finance | European Regulation | Financial Technology | Financial Planning | Operations | Risk | Wealth Management

Local Networks

Thanks to a network of 24 branches across the UK, as well as nine international branches, members always have access to networking opportunities near to them.

The CISI’s regional branches hold regular CPD, social and networking events. This helps members stay up to date and enhance professional connections in their area.

Members can stay informed of all their local events, news and developments in the My Branch section of their online portal MyCISI. Many local branches also have their own LinkedIn networks, allowing members to network online with professionals in their region.

Development

Members' professional development is at the heart of everything the CISI does. We work to ensure members have all the opportunities they need to grow in their role and progress in their career. Those opportunities are made as accessible as possible through CPD events, publications and the online member portal, MyCISI.

CPD Scheme and Events

Members can maintain their ongoing competence and demonstrate to employers and the regulator that their professional development is being met using the CISI’s formal CPD scheme. Members can also keep a record of activities easily using our free CPD record system, plus any CISI CPD activities completed are automatically added to their record.

Members can fit in structured CPD learning around their work with a full programme of free lunchtime and early evening events. These are available to all members in London, regionally and internationally. This year, more than 450 events will be held covering a wide range of topics for all categories of members.

Members can access a range of online development tools through their personal portal MyCISI.

Members who can’t make it to an event can catch up on CISI TV where a selection of the Institute’s most popular CPD events are available to watch online, anywhere, anytime.

If members want to refresh their professional knowledge they can access Professional Refresher, an online training tool consisting of over 200 modules. It lets members complete refresher tests on a variety of topics, allowing you to gain CPD when you pass a module test.

Progression

Whatever stage of your career you are at – there is always potential for growth and progression. CISI members can progress in their roles, constantly supported by the Institute. This progression can be both as part of the Institute, moving up through the membership grades, and in their individual careers – where the knowledge and experience gained earns members the recognition they need to get ahead.

Designations

Through the various grades of membership members can gain designatory letters. These, added to a CV, business cards or LinkedIn profile, indicate a knowledge of, and experience within, the financial services sector. Members can also strive to become personally Chartered and achieve the pinnacle of professionalism. Chartered members of a Chartered body are highly regarded as qualified professionals, and are considered experts in their fields.
