Levels of membership

The CISI has five different levels of membership. Whether you are just starting out in the professional field; have achieved a relevant professional qualification; or you are an established practitioner with a wealth of experience, there is a level appropriate for you. You also have the opportunity to become personally chartered – the pinnacle of professionalism.

CISI membership is available to anyone working or interested in financial services. There are five membership levels available, and eligibility is based on your qualifications or current experience. Level Overview Requirements
Student For non-CISI members who are studying for CISI qualifications. When you book a CISI exam, you will receive free Student membership for one year, or until you finish your qualification. Student membership is granted after booking a CISI exam
Affiliate For anyone interested in financial services, whether you are new or experienced. No prior experience or qualifications required.
Associate (ACSI) For members with experience of the profession and looking to progress to senior positions. Minimum of a qualifying level CISI qualification, or an equivalent qualification from another professional body.
Member (MCSI) For members with significant experience of the profession and currently in or looking to progress to senior positions. CISI level 6/7 qualification or an equivalent qualification from an external professional body, or significant experience in the industry.
Chartered Member (Chartered MCSI) For senior professionals, with extensive knowledge of the profession. Combination of qualifications and a consistent record of continuing professional development (CPD).
Chartered Fellow (Chartered FCSI) The pinnacle of CISI membership. Exclusively for professionals who have demonstrated the highest levels of knowledge and standards of professionalism. Combination of specific qualifications and a consistent record of continuing professional development (CPD).
