The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), has partnered with the University of Dubai and its Center of Executive Development to provide internationally recognised financial qualifications to students. This partnership recognises the University of Dubai as the first educational institution in the UAE to partner with CISI, highlighting the growing demand for professionalism in the UAE.

Signifying the CISI’s foray into the education and higher education sectors, this agreement will see students undertaking courses at the University of Dubai effectively bridging the gap between academia and the workplace. Through its Center for Executive Development, the University of Dubai will endeavour to market the CISI qualification not only to their students but to the entire student community in Dubai Academic City and in the UAE in order to help improve student employability.

A majority of the qualifications offered are mandated by the Securities & Commodities Authority (SCA), ensuring students are given the right tools to help them develop their careers in the UAE financial services industry.

Tadawul Academy, an accredited training provider for the CISI, will be conducting the training for students who sign up for these qualifications. As a result of the training, students will have the opportunity to be recognised as professionals in the financial services industry and upon passing the required CISI qualifications, they will be eligible for official ESCA licenses as brokers, trading/operations managers and financial analysts.

Matt Cowan, Regional Director, UAE, Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment said: “We aim to shape the future of the financial sector by working with educational institutions to train the next generation of financial professionals. This is an exciting and valuable collaboration through which students have the opportunity to develop their employability skills in the financial sector, network with likeminded individuals within the profession and begin their journey in the financial services industry. Our partnership with the University of Dubai is a great testament to the promotion of our values of raising the standards in the financial sector by promoting our qualifications.”

“We are continuing to explore other partnership opportunities with educational institutions across Dubai and the UAE. With the country taking big strides towards an increasingly qualified workforce in the financial services industry, CISI aims to promote its qualifications amongst these  professionals so they become more valuable in driving the industry’s growth while simultaneously building trust in the financial services profession in the region,” concluded Cowan.

HE.Dr Eesa Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai mentioned that University of Dubai is committed to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in making Dubai a desirable place to live and work. He explained that: “University of Dubai has taken a number of steps to introduce initiatives that will improve the employability of working professionals in the region. Introducing the CISI qualification at University of Dubai is also a step in that direction.”
